Tropical Butterfly House, Seattle

Since childhood I have always been fascinated by butterflies.
The entire process of metamorphosis, the transformation of a caterpillar into a pupa to a fluttering beautiful butterfly
Has inspired many artists and designers the world over.
I had the good fortune of visiting the Tropical Butterfly House at Pacific Science Centre in the heart of downtown Seattle.
You walk into an enclosure / greenhouse of sorts, which has very high humidity and a wide variety of tropical plants are growing all around. Suddenly, you will see butterflies of all colours and sizes fluttering about, enjoying nectar from the flowers and pre cut citrus fruits. If they like you much, they might even decide to bless you with their gentle touch and sit on your head or shoulders!
You are free to walk around and click photographs but always be wary of where you are stepping about. Butterflies don’t like commotion and you have to be super still to get that 1 good shot...
Children particularly are very captivated by this experience and I feel it’s a wonderful learning method.
It’s one thing to read in books, completely other to experience it.
I really did feel like I was a twelve year old again
