It was my first year in college when I visited The Indian Museum for the first time.
I remember, it took me a lot of time to adjust in Kolkata which was a very new city for me. I am from Allahabad (born and brought up) and Kolkata's different culture and linguistic barrier made me feel alienated. I remember complaining to my parents often on call that "i don't feel at home".
It was after this visit that I became extremely comfortable with the city.

Museums make us realise a larger truth which is that we all have a connected past.

This understanding immediately breaks all the barriers and ties that hold you from accepting a new surrounding. It's not just looking at artifacts but the whole experience of walking around, being surrounded by so much that has happened and feeling of being a small yet significant piece of the jigsaw which makes Museums a magical place of a kind.
