I visited Jodhpur a few months ago. I stayed with my friend's aunt, an 80-year-old lady with an amazing zest for life and energy level that would put an 18-year-old to shame. So when I talk about Jodhpur I must mention her. Then comes the amazing delicacies (just the thought makes my mouth water ) the Mirchi bada, Kachori, Pani Puri. I did not believe when my friend said ki “Jodhpur mein saans lene se hi 1 kg weight badh jata hai.” Par ye sach hai!! (If you breathe in Jodhpur, you increase your weight by a kilo - and, I found it's true)
And then comes the Mehrangarh Fort and the Umaid Bhavan Palace.
Standing royally amidst the arid land of Jodhpur, the fort and the palace are exquisitely designed. You will not find one room or one corner that is dull or soulless. The colored glass-work looked so beautiful, I went on a photo clicking frenzy.
The Raja Maharajas of Jodhpur sure had great taste. Amazing 'poshaak' (garments), royal gear, an array of colorful turbans, elaborate tea sets, intricate artistry, and knick-knacks like the royal 'chuski' and hookah. I was transported to a different world, where I was sitting in a 'jharokha' like a royalty, listening to some amazing Rajasthani music ...with Ghoomar, ghoomar ghoomar ghoomar ghoome re... going on in my mind...
