I’ve been to a lot of museums, mostly across Europe. All of them had something different to offer in terms of experience and work, but one such place that blew my mind completely was the Sistine Chapel, located in the world’s smallest country, the Vatican City. The Sistine Chapel serves the work of the great Italian sculptor and painter Michelangelo. Vatican City being a center for Christianity serves as a home for the pope also making it the important place of worship for the followers. Located near the St. Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel is divided into different floors all containing works of different artists such as Botticelli and Raphael. The main attraction of the Chapel is the ceiling containing the most famous painting ‘The creation of Adam’. The whole ceiling consists of different elements each narrating a different story to create a surreal experience. The most incredible part of the Chapel was not only its ceiling but the whole pathway to the room as each and every wall and the carpets below had some form of art on it creating a breath-taking view. The whole experience reminded me one of Dan Brown’s novels and made me feel like I was a part of them.
Since a kid I was always interested in artists in general. My parents are art enthusiasts so I’ve read about artists like Van Gogh, Botticelli and Michel Angelo. After reading about them, I always wanted to see their work in real life and I got the chance. I took Visual Arts as of my main subjects which made my experience more educating. It was indeed one of the best experiences I’ve had and would recommend everyone to visit the chapel at least once to witness the breath-taking creation of the artists.
