Visit to museums has always been a wonderful experience for me. By entering the doors of a museum, it is possible to close off the doors of mind to the harsh realities of the real world for a while. I had a chance to visit Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) in Canada during summer
2017. It is the largest art museum in Canada by gallery space.
When I reached at museum in the afternoon, I thought that only few people will be there. However, I was astonished to see number of people waiting to go inside. I went inside and saw several categories of art works displayed in different portions of the museum. The museum was
partitioned into five pavilions and it was easy to navigate in the museum.
The museum was filled with sketches, murals, paintings, optical illusions and 3D arts which caught my full undivided interest. Some pictures were relatively complicated but other pictures were easier to decipher. The museum was filled with other artifacts to delineate other time periods.
In the late 19th and early 20th century, the large art collections owned by many prominent Montreal families became dispersed through shared inheritance. However, some heirs made large donations to the museum. As per 2017, visitors in the museum reached 1.3 million mark and I was one of them. The artist was able to tell a story and show their emotion at the time the art was created. This could be done with the colors the artist used. Some pieces of arts are met to make people aware or just give some background information.
I spent around 4 hours to experience diversities in the museum. The museum experience was an unforgettable one because it was my first time visiting an art museum and having fun seeing what the paintings and sculptures were. It is this blend of cultural heritage on display and
uniqueness that attracts me to museums.
