The Getty Center and Me-

I’m Devika Kulkarni and I had the opportunity the visit The Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles.

I had visited the Getty many years ago when I was around 7 years old. It was a very enriching experience as I was newly introduced to art and it’s all different types through this museum. I especially remember going into the Center and seeing the huge historic paintings up on the walls and how fancy the environment was. It grew a sense of curiosity in me to explore the paintings and look at them up close. I remember sitting in the chair in a white room and seeing myself in a different world on the screen. Although technology has grown, in those times that was something new and mind boggling to me as a child.

The museum has a way of capturing peoples eyes and the walls of the environment call us to go ahead and keeping walking around to see all the things present in the museum. I remember my dad holding my hand and walking me through all the artifacts present and reading out the
information to me. Since I was a child I didn’t really understand the art as I do now but it was definitely a start to opening my eyes to the wonderful forms of art present and preserved in today’s world.
