The last museum that I visited was the Prince of Wales Museum, also known as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, located in South Bombay, Mumbai.
It was a memorable experience as I had never before seen such a huge museum. I'd like to share some highlights from the same:
1. The sheer size of the statue of Buddha's head was an awe-inspiring spectacle! I stood there for a while marveling at the craftsmanship.
2. Right before reaching the top floor I was stunned by the interior decoration and the architecture of the building; the exquisite wood railings and arches, and the classy old lamp posts mounted atop the railings. It almost felt like a time travel!
3. The next exhibit that's burnt into my memory is the ceramic collection on the top floor from different places and eras. Some tiny ones from China had me stupefied for quite some time! These articles were even tinier than my ear, and painted with great intricacy.
4. After walking all the way up and through various exhibit halls, it was very relaxing to sit down and sketch a portrait of one of my friends on the leashed sketchbook, provided by the museum, in a room filled with paintings of the age-old-masters.
