I really loved my visit to the Barnes Foundation Museum in Philly last year. For one, it is a stunning physical space both inside and outside. And then there is the art - Reniors, Matisse, Modigliani, Van Goghs just hanging off every wall in every direction. What is unique about the space is the way each "set", "group", "composition" of paintings and objects was put together by the collector Alfred Barnes for each wall display. It is very interesting in its approach and quite inviting & personal compared to the more stern displays in the larger museums.
