Visiting museums all around the world is a huge part of my dreams which I hope to fulfill when I grow up. One of my wishes came true when I got
to visit the biggest museum in the world- The Louvre, France.
The entrance to the museum is a glass pyramid called the ‘Carrousel du Louvre’ which is huge structure which signifies modern art. As I entered
the older building which houses the museum, I was taken aback by the sheer vastness of it all. It was grand, vintage and contemporary rolled into one.
There were high ceilings from where enormous chandeliers were hanging. The walls of the galleries were filled with massive art pieces, which were from the Renaissance time period or even older. There were beautiful historic artefacts that were displayed in separate rooms. The interior of those rooms were done in a way that showcased the time period and the location from where the artefacts were brought.
There were galleries which were dedicated to many older civilizations
and countries like Greece,United Arab Emirates and Egypt. When we moved to the building named ‘Denon’ we saw a change. The galleries became broader, the interior got grander and the excited chatters of the sightseers(like me!) got louder. We were on the floor where the famous painting ‘Mona Lisa’ painted by the great artist Leonardo da Vinci was displayed. The huge hallway was filled with floor to ceiling paintings of the Renaissance period. I am a history enthusiast, and so, I had read extensively about the Renaissance period. To actually see the paintings and sculptures I had read and studied about, was a surreal experience. I had to struggle a lot to see the ‘Mona Lisa’. There was a huge crowd, and I could barely make out the painting, but,the whole experience was worth it.
