I had gone to Mandawa, Rajasthan with my family and friends. There we visited a lot of Havelis turned museums.
1) I remember seeing the Iktara or Ektara being played live by a local outside the gate of the haveli. It sounded mesmerising.
2) There was this courtyard at the end of which was a room
having a window with vertical bars facing the courtyard. My dad and I looked through the window and pretended as if my mom had captured us inside, while she clicked a picture.
3) The low railings on higher floors made our parents even more careful, warning us of treading away from it. It was fun to tease them :)
4) The relatively low doors where we had to bend and the reason behind the doors being small - mostly security as the guide said if enemy comes he would be beheaded - sounded so interesting that we kids tried getting inside and the other pretended to cut our necks :p
5) In one of the rooms there was this thing we had never seen!!! A platform between the floor and the roof of the room where we could go by stairs, that concept was so alien to us that we kept going up and down amazed by the small steps and the mini balcony like room.
